Project Overview
Sunny, the number one blended oil brand in the UAE, has partnered with global connected packaging leader Appetite Creative to launch an AI-powered interactive experience across its product range. The campaign blends gamification, practical kitchen tools, and bite-sized education to highlight the everyday benefits of Sunny cooking oil, while reinforcing the brand’s mission to help families save time in the kitchen and enjoy more moments together.
the challenge
As consumer expectations for household brands continue to evolve, Sunny needed a fresh way to communicate the everyday advantages of its blended cooking oils to modern families. The brand wanted to highlight how its products help save time in the kitchen, showcase the vitamins and health properties within each variant, and clarify the differences between its Everyday, Crunch Lite, and Sunflower oils for customers who may not easily understand them. At the same time, Sunny aimed to build deeper connections with households across the region by encouraging ongoing engagement beyond the initial purchase.
the solution
Appetite Creative partnered with Sunny to create an AI-powered connected packaging experience that makes cooking feel smarter, faster, and more engaging for families. Activated through QR codes across the Sunny product range, the experience guides users into an interactive web app where they can explore the benefits of Sunny’s blended oils, discover helpful kitchen tools, and enjoy playful brand-led interactions. With the AI-driven “My Fridge” feature, users can choose ingredients they already have at home and instantly receive tailored recipe suggestions, while the daily hacks section provides quick, practical tips designed to simplify everyday cooking.
To build momentum, we introduced three family-friendly games: Sunny Pathway, where users pour oil along a winding track; Sunny Bottle Flip, which challenges players to land a virtual bottle upright; and Sunny Wheel, a puzzle-style game connecting rays of sunshine. A leaderboard rewards top performers, with prizes and discount vouchers available throughout the campaign. This not only adds excitement but also drives repeat engagement as users return for entertainment, inspiration, and rewards.

The connected packaging experience has delivered an engaging and practical journey that resonates with busy households across the region. By combining playful game mechanics with helpful cooking tools and easy-to-digest product education, the campaign strengthens Sunny’s mission to support smarter, faster cooking and help families enjoy more quality time together.
Powered by Appetite Creative’s technology, the experience also provides Sunny with rich real-time insights, including buying habits, product preferences, engagement duration, demographics, scan rates, page views, and social media interactions, all captured in a fully GDPR-compliant way.
